Every piece on our rails, measured flat
Wren Row (sample) is an independent clothing boutique in Springfield. We buy small runs from a handful of makers, and because every maker sizes differently, we lay each new piece on the counter and measure it. Compare our numbers with a garment you already love.

New on the rails
Six pieces that came in this week, from four makers. Most runs are under thirty pieces, so sizes go quickly.
Example prices. Makers and stock (sample).
Four collections, one small shop
Everything is on the shop floor to try on. Ask before you travel if you are after one size.
Who makes what we sell
Four independent makers, all within a day’s drive of the shop (sample). We buy a few times a season, so a sold-out size can come back, but not always.

Runs of about 30
Harrow Knits (sample)
A family knitting mill with three hand-framed machines. Cardigans and jumpers in British wool and merino.

An hour with someone who knows the rails
Book the fitting room for an hour before the shop opens or on a Monday. Tell us the occasion and what you like wearing; we pull a rail in your measurements before you arrive.
- Free, with no need to buy anything
- We measure two of your favourite pieces and keep the numbers on file if you like
- Hems pinned while you are here, ready in four days
- Bring a friend; tea and coffee are on us
Measure something you already love
Our numbers only help if you compare like with like. Pick a piece that fits you well and measure it the way we do, with a soft tape, in centimetres.
1
Lay it flat
Button or zip it up and lay it face up on a table. Smooth it out without pulling.
2
Length (A)
From the highest point of the shoulder, beside the collar, straight down to the hem.
3
Chest (B)
Across the front, from one armpit seam to the other, 2 cm below the armhole.
4
Sleeve or inside leg (C)
Along the top of the sleeve from the shoulder seam to the cuff; for trousers, from the crotch seam to the hem.
5
Hem (D)
Straight across the bottom edge. Write the four numbers down and compare them with ours.
Last of the run
One piece left in one size. When these go, the maker may not cut them again.
Example prices.
