A market on the square since 1987
The Linden Square Christmas Market (sample) is run by a small not-for-profit trust and the stallholders themselves.

Twelve huts, then forty
The first market was twelve borrowed huts and a brass band on the Corn Exchange steps (sample). Today forty stallholders, most of them from within an hour’s drive, come back every winter.
Hut rents pay for the lights, the stage, the cleaning and the security. Whatever is left goes to the square’s trees and benches.
Who runs the market
Four people in the market office all year, and about thirty volunteers in December (sample names).

A few rules on the square
- Hot drinks in deposit mugs only, no paper cups
- Dogs welcome on a short lead, but not in the workshop hut
- No drones and no amplified music outside the stage
- Glass goes back to the hut it came from
Help on the square
Volunteers run the information hut, the lantern parade and the quiet hour. Two evenings in December make a real difference.
