Repairing teeth

Fillings, crowns and root canal treatment: keeping your own teeth when they are decayed, cracked or infected.

Three ways to repair a tooth

From the smallest to the biggest job. Your dentist explains which one your tooth needs and why.

Decay taken out and the tooth rebuilt in tooth-coloured composite.

On your chart: filled square

1 visit, 30–60 min

From $140

A cap over a weak or broken tooth, made in the lab to match the teeth beside it.

On your chart: thick outline

2 visits, two weeks apart

From $950

The inflamed or infected nerve taken out and the canals cleaned and sealed, so the tooth can stay.

On your chart: filled square and a root line

1–2 visits, 60–90 min

From $780

Example prices, for adults without insurance. Your dentist gives you a written plan with the cost before any treatment.

What we repair teeth with

Composite

Tooth-coloured resin for most fillings. Set hard with a blue light in seconds.

Porcelain

For crowns on front teeth, matched to the shade of your own.

Zirconia

A strong ceramic for crowns on back teeth.

Silver amalgam

We no longer place it, and we only replace old amalgam fillings when they fail (sample).
