Why I write here
I started this site in the first spring after the move, when I knew nobody in Springfield and wanted a reason to go out and look at things. One entry a week felt possible. It still does.
I write about what I did that week: a walk, a soup, a mend, a book. Nothing here is advice. It is a record, and the index is how I find things again (and how you can).
How this site works
A few rules I keep, so the site stays easy to read and easy to find your way around.
Every Sunday
Written on Saturday, posted on Sunday morning. Usually 600 to 1,200 words.
Numbered
Every entry gets the next number. No. 1 was in March 2020.
Indexed
Topics go into the index when an entry goes up. Bold marks the main entry.
Corrected
If I get something wrong, I fix it and say so at the end of the entry.
Write to me
Questions about an entry, corrections, a recipe that worked (or did not): I read every letter and answer most of them within a week.
