A job board for one town
Fourways Jobs (sample) started in 2014 as a felt board in the library foyer. It is still there, and now every ad is online too.

Local work, close to home
Most people on the board want a job they can reach by bus or on foot, and most employers want someone from the neighbourhood. We put the two together, about 900 ads a year (sample).
The board is run by a small non-profit team. Employers pay for ads; asking about a job is always free.
House rules for every ad
We read every ad before it goes up. These are the rules, written down so job seekers and employers can hold us to them.
The pay is on the ad
An hourly rate or a yearly range, before tax. Ads that say “competitive” do not go up.
The employer is real
We call every new employer and check the address before their first ad goes up (sample).
A closing date, kept
Ads come down on the closing date, or earlier when every tab is torn.
Free to ask, always
Job seekers never pay to ask about a job, and nobody may charge for training or uniforms before you start.
The people who run the board
Three staff and a rota of volunteers at the job desk.
Grace Mensah
Board manager (sample)
Reads every ad and calls every new employer.
Ivan Petrov
Employer accounts (sample)
Takes new ads and tears the tabs when openings fill.
Noor Haddad
Job desk coordinator (sample)
Runs the Tuesday and Thursday sessions at the library.
