Licenses and the draw
Which license you need, when to apply and what we do for you. Rules (sample) differ from state to state; the state wildlife agency has the final word.
Most hunts here need a license from the state draw. It sounds complicated; we walk every hunter through it, one step at a time.

Hunter education card
Required for anyone born after 1 January 1975 (sample rule). Online course plus a field day.

Apply in the draw
Apply online for your hunt’s unit by April 7. Upland bird licenses are sold over the counter.

Results in June
Send us a photo of your license. If you are not drawn, your deposit is refunded in full.

We confirm your hunt
Unit, dates, camp and the gear list arrive by email by mid July.

Hunt codes and dates (sample).
Hunter education
Anyone born after 1 January 1975 needs a hunter education card to buy a license (sample rule). The course covers firearm safety, ethics, first aid and the law.
How to get your card
- Online course at your own pace, about six hours
- A field day with a certified instructor: we run two each summer
- The card is valid for life and in every state
What we do for you
- Tell you the unit and hunt code to apply for
- Send a reminder before the draw closes
- Check your application if you send it to us
- Look for leftover licenses in July if you were not drawn
- Refund your deposit in full if you do not draw
