A members' club since 1931
Hollow Brook Golf Club (sample) is owned by its members and open to everyone: visitors, societies, juniors and anyone who just wants Sunday lunch with a view of the 18th.

Owned by the members
Nine holes were laid out on a rented farm in 1931 by a group of local players (sample). Today the club owns all 140 acres along the brook and about 650 members play here every year.
There are no shareholders: green fees, subscriptions and the bar pay for the course, the greenkeepers and the clubhouse.
Club history
1931
Nine holes on Brook Farm
Twenty-two founder members rent the lower fields of Brook Farm and play from a wooden hut (sample).
1958
Eighteen holes and the Quarry
The club buys the old quarry and the fields beyond it; the 7th is built over the flooded pit.
1987
The clubhouse
The brick clubhouse with the Brook Room and the terrace over the 18th green opens.
2012
Drainage on the back nine
New drains mean the back nine stays open through most of the winter.
2024
Irrigation and wildlife plan
Greens and tees get new irrigation fed from the pond; the brook banks are left wild for kingfishers.
Committee and staff
The captain and committee are elected each spring. The staff run the course, the pro shop and the clubhouse every day.

Dress code and pace of play
What should I wear on the course?
Collared shirts or smart golf tops, tailored shorts or trousers, and soft-spiked golf shoes. No denim, football shirts or metal spikes.
Can I wear golf shoes in the clubhouse?
Clean soft spikes are fine in the bar and on the terrace. Please change out of muddy shoes in the locker room first.
How long should a round take?
About four hours for a four-ball. If the hole in front is clear and you are looking for a ball, call the group behind through.
Can I use my phone on the course?
Yes, quietly. Range finders and GPS devices are allowed in all general play and club competitions.
