Questions about joining
Which grade should I apply for?
If you are still studying, Student. If you are qualified and working, Associate. Surveyors who already hold full membership of another body may apply straight to Member; we assess each case.
What counts as a CPD hour?
One hour of learning that is relevant to your work. Events, courses and webinars are structured hours; reading, research and mentoring are self-directed. Keep a note of what you learned.
What happens if I miss my CPD hours?
We remind you in October. If the year closes short, you have three months to catch up before your entry is taken off the public register.
Can I pay my fee in instalments?
Yes, in ten monthly payments from February (example terms). Members on parental leave or out of work pay a reduced fee.
Apply as an Associate
Send your certificate and two referees. We reply within three weeks (sample).
