A small firm for the legal side of ordinary life
Hartwell Rowe Law (sample) has advised people and families in Springfield since 2011 (sample).

Two lawyers, one shared office, and a rule about letters
Claire Hartwell and Samuel Rowe opened the firm above a print shop on Elm Street, with one rule: every client gets a letter before any work starts, saying what will be done, by whom, and for what fee (sample).
Today five people handle around 400 matters a year (sample), most of them wills, separations, severance offers and leases.
How we work
The time and the fee in writing
Before any work starts, you sign an engagement letter with the work, the lawyer, the typical time and the fee.
Plain English
Letters and advice you can read without a dictionary. If we use a legal term, we explain it.
Your time record on request
Ask at any point and we send the entries on your matter, in six-minute units.
We say when you do not need us
If a form, a letter or a mediator would serve you better, we tell you in the consultation.
The people at the firm
Two partners, two associates and a paralegal. Your matter has one named lawyer, and you can reach them directly.
