A menswear shop on Mill Lane
Mill Lane Menswear (sample) has sold trousers, shirts and jackets from the same narrow shop since 2009, with a tailor working in the back room.
Our story
The shop opened with one wall of jeans and a sewing machine behind the counter. The wall grew to shirts and knitwear, the machine became a back room with two tailors, and the jeans are still folded in cubbies by waist and leg (sample).
What has not changed: you try things on, someone tells you honestly how they fit, and hems are free.

Fewer things, in more sizes
We buy a short list of things we would wear ourselves and stock them in a long run of sizes, including the shorts and longs most shops skip.
- Cloth weight and fibre on every label, so you know what you are buying
- Waists to 42, collars to 17.5, jackets in short, regular and long
- Shoes and boots that can be resoled, and we know who does it
In the shop and the back room
Five people who will tell you when the next size down looks better.
